Power Flushing in High Wycombe
Sludge and corrosion choke your central heating, leaving cold radiators, a noisy boiler and rising bills. Our professional power-flush clears it out, restores full circulation and protects your boiler for years to come.
Cold spots, noisy boiler, sluggish heating?
Over time, the inside of your radiators and pipework corrodes, producing a black, magnetic sludge called magnetite. As it builds up it restricts the flow of water around your system and starves the boiler.
If your heating is suffering, the symptoms are usually easy to spot:
- Cold spots on radiators — typically cold at the bottom and warm at the top, or some radiators that never get hot at all.
- Slow, uneven heating — rooms take far too long to warm up and never feel quite right.
- A noisy boiler — banging, kettling or gurgling sounds as sludge restricts flow and the boiler overheats.
- Dirty water — cloudy, rusty or black water when you bleed a radiator.
- Frequent breakdowns — pumps and valves that keep failing because they are working against a blocked system.
A power flush forces a high-volume flow of water and cleaning chemicals through every radiator and pipe, lifting the debris out of the system and leaving it clean, free-flowing and far more efficient.
Kamco CF90 + Adey MagnaCleanse
We use professional-grade equipment and only the right chemicals — no shortcuts, no guesswork.
Our power-flush is carried out with a Kamco CF90 flushing machine paired with an Adey MagnaCleanse magnetic filtration unit. The CF90 drives a powerful, reversible flow through the system to dislodge sludge, while the MagnaCleanse captures the loosened iron oxide before it can settle back into the radiators.
To finish, we add a corrosion inhibitor to keep the system protected. As a matter of policy: we only use chemicals recommended by Worcester Bosch, made by Sentinel or Adey. Cheaper, unbranded products can damage your system and may invalidate your warranty.
And, as always with Smith's, the job is not finished until the paperwork is done — you receive a clear record of the work carried out and the products used.
Why power flush with Smith's
Lower running costs
A clean system circulates freely, so your boiler reaches temperature faster and works less hard — meaning more efficient heating and lower energy bills.
Fewer breakdowns
Removing sludge protects pumps, valves and the heat exchanger from premature wear, reducing the risk of an unexpected — and expensive — failure.
Protects your warranty
Many boiler warranties require a clean system, an inhibitor and a system filter. A correctly documented power flush helps keep your Worcester Bosch warranty valid.
Transparent, survey-based costs
Power-flush pricing depends on the size and condition of your system, so we quote after a quick survey. The figures below are indicative, + VAT, and subject to survey.
| Service | From |
|---|---|
| Labour (per hour, min 1 hr) | £100 + VAT |
| Gas Safe engineer day rate | £460 + VAT |
| Gas boiler service | £105 + VAT |
| Gas safety certificate | £130 + VAT |
A power-flush is most often quoted as a fixed price once we have seen the system and counted the radiators. Ask us about adding a magnetic filter or an annual boiler service at the same time. All figures above are indicative, + VAT and subject to survey.

What are the signs I need a power flush?
Tell-tale signs include radiators that are cold at the bottom but warm at the top, rooms that take a long time to heat, banging or gurgling noises from the boiler, cloudy or discoloured water when you bleed a radiator, and pipework or radiators that stay cold even when the heating is on. These point to a build-up of magnetite sludge and corrosion that a power flush will clear.
How long does a power flush take?
A typical domestic system takes most of a day, usually four to six hours depending on the number of radiators and how heavily the system is contaminated. Larger or badly sludged systems can take longer. We always size the job at survey so you know what to expect before we start.
Should I have a magnetic filter fitted at the same time?
Yes, we strongly recommend it. Fitting an Adey magnetic filter while the system is open captures iron oxide sludge before it can settle again, keeping the system clean for longer and protecting your boiler. Many Worcester Bosch warranties also expect a system filter and inhibitor to be in place.
Is a power flush worth it?
For a sludged system, almost always. A power flush restores circulation so your home heats evenly and quickly, lowers running costs because the boiler no longer has to work against blockages, reduces breakdowns, and helps protect your manufacturer warranty. It is also a sensible step before a new boiler so you are not pumping fresh heat through an old, dirty system.
